Since its founding in 2017 under the auspices of the Faculty of Law, Department of Land Management and Law has been dedicated to expanding, sharing as well as shaping legal knowledge focusing the existing land management system in Bangladesh while training the next generation of law students. The prime objective of the department is to disseminate the explored knowledge regarding land laws among the young greenhorn and to prepare them to contribute to the arena of mounting land laws tracing their expertise in land administration system. Department is offering a richer and deeper set of opportunities to explore and learn both theoretical and practical aspects of legal education.
The curriculum of both four year LL B (Hons) in Land Management and Law and one-year regular LL M program covers an incredible range of legal and policy issues on land laws: History of Land Management, Laws on Acquisition and Requisition, Land Administration and Management, Land Survey and Settlement, Public Property Management, Study on Agricultural and Non-Agricultural Tenancy Laws. Additionally LL B program arranges an INTERNSHIP course with a dissertation on land related issues to work closely with a specialist supervisor for the fourth year students to grow their expertise on land coliseum. The master’s level legal education in the Department of Land Management and Law offers an extensive variety of options and the opportunity to specialize in land management or to select a diverse combination of courses.
Department of Land Management and Law leads an expert team of faculty, administration and staff according to the mission and values of the department. Faculty members devote their full attention to teaching both in and out of the classroom. Our faculty to students ratio is 1:29. This department provides with opportunity to obtain an exceptional legal education, preparing graduates to serve their community and the profession with distinction whether it is bar, bench or academia.
Department is also home to a number of societies, catering for a wide variety of activities that are interest to law students. In order to strengthen and bolster the skill of students, the Department inaugurated “LAND LAW CLUB’ in 2019 to reinforce the students through arranging Land Fair, Moot Court Competition, Debating, Workshop, Symposium, Seminars.
