The Department of Political Science is one of the oldest departments of Jagannath University, prior to 2005 which was a post-graduate college and this college was a school before (circa) 1957 A.D. This department had started functioning from the very beginning of this university and it is 2005. The first admission session of the first enrollment of the department is 2005-06 and 147 students were enrolled. There are some purposes of this entity i.e. encouraging students to know about the theories and organization of political science; making the learners more realistic; letting them seek knowledge in different aspects of politics and society and making sure of creating a knowledge-oriented environment in the entity.
