Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) is an interdisciplinary subject, which studies life at the molecular level. Incorporating elements of both chemistry and biology, biochemists use their knowledge of chemicals proteins and DNA to better understand how cells function in organisms. The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology has launched its journey under the faculty of Life and Earth Sciences in Jagannath University in 2016.
To be a place where fundamental change is brought about in our students, ourselves, our environment and in the way we understand life at the molecular level.
Our mission is….
to foster a culture of scientific inquiry, critical thinking and debate;
to create, through participatory management, a working environment in which everyone can develop to his or her full potential;
to educate students in fundamental knowledge and the application of the scientific method;
to extend the fundamental knowledge of biochemistry by leading and innovative research, to the advantage of the community and industry;
to follow a multidisciplinary research strategy by harnessing the diversity of expertise within the department;
to use our central position within the faculty and university to bring about change through innovative and novel approaches to outcomes-based education.
